Safeguarding Day of Action: A United Effort to Protect Vulnerable Young People
On 31 July 2025, we proudly delivered our second annual Safeguarding Day of Action, with activities led by our Safeguarding team across key UK rail stations. Timed to coincide with the school summer holidays, the event aimed to raise awareness of the risks faced by vulnerable children and young people on the rail network.
We hosted multi-agency stalls at Glasgow Central, Preston, Birmingham New Street, and London Euston, and visited the newly opened Safeguarding Hub at Wolverhampton Station. Through face-to-face engagement, educational materials, and interactive tools like 200 Seconds to Safety, we empowered passengers and staff to recognise signs of vulnerability and take action.
The initiative builds on Railway Children’s At Risk, Right Here, Right Now campaign and was shaped by youth advisory groups to ensure the messaging was relevant, impactful, and informed by lived experience.
Together, we’re strengthening the protective network across the railway, because safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
